Returning to port after a day's sail offshore, right at sunset. The Star of India is the showpiece of the San Diego Maritime Museum ( http://www.sdmaritime.org/) and can be visited most days of the year.
It's rare to have a clear sunset in San Diego; there's a cloudbank offshore that rolls in every evening--that's part of the reason we have this glad climate. This evening was so clear it was a little unreal. . .as you see.
The Star puts to sea once or twice a year. If you have a friend with a boat, you can follow her. Otherwise, you can visit her in port, where she's part of the San Diego Maritime Museum ( http://www.sdmaritime.org/ ).
Returning to port after a day sail offshore, the Surprise was met by the MetLife dirigible. Honest, I didn't photoshop that in! You can visit the Surprise in port at the San Diego Maritime Museum http://www.sdmaritime.org/).
One of my first attempts at a shot here. . .and I'm sorry to say I can't find the original, so no large prints are available. I'll keep trying to recreate it, but I need a very high tide right at sunset. Not easy!
